They say location-based social networking is the next big thing. Maybe they're right; I have no idea. But are you already tired of seeing exciting “check-ins” from your friends, while all you can manage is “At home, watching TV, LOL”? Aren't we all?
No more! Fire up Tall Tales on your trusty iPad, choose your location on a map, bring up the built-in browser, and check in without shame!
Need an alibi? Perhaps the wife doesn't exactly know about the bachelor party? You'll never fool her by calling from the strip club – but she'll believe a check-in “at the office, working late.” GPS doesn't lie! Right?

Dude, what are you waiting for? It's only a dollar!

No Hacks
There are no ugly hacks going on here. This app does not, and cannot, alter or affect your device's GPS or Location Services data. In fact, it will work even if you have Location Services disabled. It doesn't use any sort of private APIs and it doesn't do anything dangerous or fragile like method swizzling. It does not “fool” other apps, nor the regular browser.
Privacy
Tall Tales will request permission to access your current location. This is used to show your location on the map, and to zoom the map to your location. If you deny access, these are the only features that won't work. If you don't set another location, your actual location (if you allow the app to access it) will be sent to web sites, just as if you were using a normal browser. This information is not recorded or used in any other way.
When you log into your account on a website, you're sending your username and password to the site, not to me. It's the same as using a regular browser. Tall Tales doesn't access your accounts in any special way.
No personal information is gathered and the app does not “phone home.”
Plans
I've been asked if it's possible to have the app post Facebook checkins directly (via the Facebook API) rather than having to use the (somewhat clunky) website. Unfortunately, I can't do this: when an app posts a checkin via the API, Facebook identifies the app making the post. So the checkins would say “via Tall Tales,” neatly defeating the purpose.
Yes, I plan to make Tall Tales compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch.
