Life On Mars – R.I.P.

So, the ABC series Life On Mars is being canceled.

I love this show. It was easily the best new show of the season. But, the folks at ABC decided that they hate having good shows, and they would rather be known for ridiculous nonsense like Dancing With The Stars.

Yet another good show isn't given a chance past the first season, but idiotic crap like The Bachelor will, no doubt, live on. Now NBC is nuking their entire 10pm weekday lineup and sticking Jay Leno in there. They think I'm going to sit down at 10pm every night to watch Jay Leno? Please.

Apparently the stupid network executives gave the Life On Mars producers enough notice that they were able to wrap up the storyline in the last episode. So, there's that; we won't be left hanging. I still hate TV network executives. They put a new show on a two-month hiatus in the middle of the first season and expect it to keep doing as well? They learned that lesson with 24, but apparently the wisdom has failed to spread. (Yes, I'm still bitter over the whole Firefly thing, too.)

I can't wait till TV producers forget about the networks and start just going straight to iTunes. The “broadcast network” business model needs to die.
